Anna Madeleine is an emerging artist working in a hybrid of traditional and new media, through stop-motion animation and mixed media with both object and screen based outcomes. She graduated from ANU School of Art in 2007 and is currently a PhD candidate in Media Arts at College of Fine Arts, UNSW, and a writer for Artist Profile and editorial assistant for Art Almanac.

Her current research explores the effects of digital communication technology on our personal expression in interpersonal relationships, using tactile media and physical form to present a co-evolution of old and new technology and offset the familiarity of the digital in new media art.

She has had solo exhibitions at Paper Plane Gallery, CTRLlab (Montreal), Brunswick Street Gallery, ANCA Gallery, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Photoaccess, and M16 Artspace, as well as involvement with several collaborative projects, group exhibitions and selection for prominent national prizes such the 37th Alice Prize for Contemporary Art, and the Online National Youth Self Portrait Prize.

Anna has completed residencies with Sydney Artspace, Splendid Arts Lab, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, and PhotoAccess, and in 2010 was the winner of the Qantas Foundation Art Award for the A.C.T. This funded her to travel in 2011 and complete residencies at Kala Arts Institute, Berkeley, and CTRLlab, Montreal, where she held her first international solo exhibition, Fuzzy Logic.
